Facelift Surgery be Combined With Other Face Related Plastic Surgery Procedures?

Facelift San Diego

In short, there are three main things that determine if multiple procedures are possible. These three things also determine the type of facelift surgery to be performed.

Three things to consider:

  • The general health of the patient.
  • The ability to take time off of work or play.
  • The budget of the patient.

For the most part if a patient is healthy, then multiple procedures are typically not a problem. Healthy patients are excellent candidates for routine facelift surgery. We are a fully accredited surgery center. Like many San Diego Hospitals, we follow the same requirements they follow. Before submitting to facelift surgery, all of our patients must see their physician. Patient safety is our prime concern so a thorough medical history check, physical and appropriate lab exams are mandatory.

Is your wedding or family, college reunion in the horizon? Do not hesitate to give us a call. Schedule your facelift surgery procedure in San Diego, 4-6 weeks before your big events. Call us at (619) 463-4486 today.

What is the recovery period for a facelift procedure? Every patient is different, always consult with your surgeon, for the best possible answer. Meanwhile enjoy the following educational video:

Common Surgeries to Consider for the Face

    April 12, 2012

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons San Diego

The environment, gravity, injury, and even genetics play a role in how your face and skin age over time. If you have noticed unwanted changes in your appearance, a facelift or mini facelift may be a way to help you create the fresh, rejuvenated look that you desire.

    Rhinoplasty

Commonly called a “nose job,” rhinoplasty is a facial cosmetic surgery procedure that improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, in relationship to your other facial features. Rhinoplasty can:

    • Correct asymmetry or deviation.
    • Reduce humps, bumps or depressions on the bridge of your nose.
    • Change the width of your nose at the bridge.
    • Alter the shape or size of tip of your nose.
    • Change the shape or size of your nostrils.

    Blepharoplasty

This is a cosmetic surgery procedure that repairs droopy eyelids. During the procedure, your cosmetic surgeon can correct signs of aging that affect your upper and lower eyelids. The skin of your eyelids stretches and loses elasticity over time. As a result, you may see sagging eyelids and bags under your eyes. Drooping eyelids not only make you look older, but they can also impair your vision. During blepharoplasty, your surgeon will remove excess skin, muscle, and fat from your upper and lower lids to leave you with a more youthful look.

    Brow Lift

If you have noticed wrinkles and frown lines on your forehead and between your brows, a brow lift may offer the results you are looking for. This type of procedure results in a much more natural and youthful appearance. The skin on your forehead is gently lifted and excess skin is removed to leave you with a smoother, refreshed appearance.

The oral maxillofacial surgeons of VCOMS, located in San Diego, specialize in a variety of cosmetic procedures; from facelifts, mini facelifts, and dental procedures like wisdom teeth removals. To learn more about how our doctors can help you realize your aesthetic goals, call VCOMS at (619) 463-4486.

    Understand the Aging Process

    March 29, 2012

    Facelift San Diego

While aging is a natural process that cannot be prevented, a facelift, mini facelift and other cosmetic procedures can help reverse the effects of aging. Learning about the aging process can also be beneficial in your quest to age gracefully and beautifully. Understand the aging process to learn what you can do to slow down the hands of time.

    Types of Aging

Two different types of aging occur as time progresses. Intrinsic aging is the natural cellular process that your body undergoes as you grow older. Extrinsic aging is the aging that occurs because of outside influences and factors that you experience during your life.

    Intrinsic Aging

The cells in your body are designed to grow, change, die, and rejuvenate as you age. In the early years of your life, your cells are doing much more growing and rejuvenating than changing and dying. Once you reach your mid-twenties, your cells begin to change in a way that signifies the start of the aging process. Some of the changes that occur as a result of intrinsic aging include:

    • Bone loss
    • Fat loss
    • Loss of elasticity
    • Loss of collagen
    • Loss of muscle and ligament support

    Extrinsic Aging

The environmental and personal factors that can affect how rapidly or how well you age can, to some degree, be controlled. The external factors include:

    • Sun exposure
    • Smoking
    • Sleep positions
    • Facial expressions

If you want to avoid the aging effects of the sun, wear sunscreen each day. To prevent the wrinkles and cellular damage associated with smoking, quit or don't start smoking. Sleep on your back to allow your face to stay in a neutral position throughout the night.

If you would like a facelift or mini facelift to help your face look as young as you feel, come toVarboncoeur & Caldemeyer Oral & Facial Surgery in San Diego. Call us at (619) 463-4486 to schedule a consultation today or visit our website for more information.

     Botox in Action
    March 22, 2012

Botox is a wonderful option for men and women. Botox injections can help erase the lines and wrinkles that can make women or men look older than they are. However, these injections are not as permanent as other cosmetic procedures, for example, facelifts and mini facelifts. If you live near San Diego and a mini facelift is out of your price range, remember that Botox injections can still have a stunning effect on the appearance of your face. To see Botox in action, watch this educational video.

As this video shows, Botox simply softens your lines and wrinkles rather than removing all movement from the face. Your San Diego cosmetic surgeon can determine the amount and placement of your Botox injections to give you the look you want.

At Varboncoeur & Caldemeyer Oral & Facial Surgery, we offer a variety of cosmetic procedures. We specialize in wisdom teeth procedures, facelifts, mini facelifts, dental implants, and other cosmetic procedures. Let us help you keep you young and beautiful. Contact our San Diego office, call us at (619) 463-4486 to schedule an appointment today.

      Cosmetic Surgery Options for Men

      March 15, 2012

      Blepharoplasty San Diego

As men and women age, both can suffer the ill effects of the aging process, including low self esteem and decreased confidence. While most women are comfortable with the idea of a faclift or mini facelift procedure to improve their looks, many men may be skeptical. Luckily, wonderful cosmetic surgery options exist for men to help them look, and feel their best.

Facelift- Men can choose from a traditional facelift or a NuAge facelift to give them the younger, more confident look they desire. While the facelift cosmetic procedure is essentially the same for men and women, it is important for men to find a cosmetic surgeon who understands the subtleties of performing cosmetic surgeries on men.

Neck Lift- Drooping jowls can make men look significantly older. This can reduce their confidence in their personal and business relationships. A neck lift can tighten the skin under the chin and in the neck area to reduce the appearance of the jowls. A neck lift can be performed with a full facelift or alone to give patients the results they desire.

Facial Implants- Men who are unhappy with their chins or cheeks can have implants placed to alter their face shape. This type of cosmetic surgery can give men stronger, more prominent facial appearances. Cheek implants are an excellent option for men because the cosmetic procedure to implant them is simple with a quick recovery. Moreover, the implants are removable if the patient is not happy with the outcome or changes his mind later.

Other Cosmetic Procedures- Men can have other procedures to improve their looks. These include:

      • Rhinoplasty
      • Botox
      • Acne scar removal
      • Ear pining
      • Eyelid surgery

Visit Varboncoeur & Caldemeyer Oral & Facial Surgery in San Diego for all your facelift, mini facelift and all your other cosmetic surgery needs. Both men and women can benefit from our cosmetic procedures. Call (619) 463-4486 for an appointment. Reach out to us and read our San Diego facelift procedure reviews.

Do You Know What to Expect From Botox Injections?

    March 3, 2012

     Botox

While face lifts and other facial cosmetic procedures are a great way to reduce the signs of aging, some people prefer a less invasive approach to facial rejuvenation. Fortunately, many facial cosmetic surgerycenters offer Botox injections. Take a look at this overview on Botox injections to learn more:

    • Understanding Botox Injections- Botox refers to a purified form of Botulinum toxin that was first approved by the FDA in 1989 to treat certain medical conditions including blepharospasm and excessive sweating. Botox was later approved by the FDA in 2002 for cosmetic use. By temporarily blocking the nerve signals that release acetylcholine—a chemical that causes muscle contraction—Botox injections effectively work to reduce or eliminate the appearance of frown lines, crow's feet near the eyes, forehead creases, and thick bands along the neck area.
    • Procedure Steps- Botox injections are performed as outpatient procedures in the office using an ultra-fine needle. The number of injections will vary based on each patients needs and the degree of wrinkling. After your surgeon identifies the proper points of injection, he will determine the necessary dosage. Some patients may benefit from the use of a topical numbing cream prior to the injection; however, many patients do not require topical anesthetic. In most cases, patients who receive Botox injections can return to their daily activities immediately following the procedure.
    • Results- Most patients find that the effects of Botox injections are visible 24 to 72 hours following the procedure. These results last approximately three months. Some studies suggest that repeated treatments may help to permanently weaken the facial muscles to prevent the development of new wrinkles.

Whether you're interested in Botox injections, facial cosmetic surgery, or dental cosmetic surgery,Varboncoeur & Caldemeyer Oral & Facial Surgery is here to help. Learn more about our services by contacting our San Diego office at (619) 463-4486.

     Asked Yourself:

Why Do We Get Wrinkles? Watch and Learn!

    February 26, 2012

Your skin loses elasticity and the ability to bounce back as you age. This is why many people develop fine lines and facial wrinkles as they grow older.

This video provides an overview on the leading causes of wrinkles. One of the main causes of wrinkles is photo-aging, or repeated, unprotected exposure to the sun. This causes the collagen and elastin in the skin to break down. Wrinkles may also be caused by repeated motions of the skin, such as frowning, smiling, and squinting. Learn more by watching this educational clip.

Just because you develop wrinkles doesn't mean you have to live with them. Make an appointment with one of our experienced San Diego surgeons. Call Varboncoeur & Caldemeyer Oral & Facial Surgery at (619) 463-4486 to learn more about your facial cosmetic surgery options.

Quick Look at the NuAge Face Lift Method

    February 23, 2012

             Eye of the Wounded

With so many advancements in the field of medicine in recent years, it's no wonder that more and more individuals are choosing to undergo facial cosmetic surgery. One of the most common facial cosmetic procedures performed today is the face lift. However, with so many face lift procedures available, determining which procedure is right for you can be a difficult task. For specifics about our Nuage Face Lift Method, don't hesitate in calling us at (888) 844-9315. Meanwhile, educate yourself on the NuAge face lift:

    • The Procedure- Developed in 1999 by Dr. John E. Griffin, Jr., the NuAge face lift procedure is a minimal-incision approach to the traditional S-lift procedure, or short-flap face lift. This procedure is designed to provide facial rejuvenation for the lower face and neck. The facial cosmetic procedure uses smaller incisions, and suspension sutures to reposition loose soft tissue and sagging facial muscles.
    • Ideal Candidates- As with any medical procedure, ideal candidates for the NuAge face lift should be in good general health with realistic expectations regarding the results. Typically the average client for the NuAge face lift is usually 40 years of age or older. Patients suffering from mild to moderate skin laxity in their neck and lower face may be candidates for the procedure. The NuAge face lift is not designed for patients with an extreme amount of tissue laxity or excessive fatty deposits within their facial tissues. .
    • Benefits- The NuAge face lift provides a number of benefits over traditional face lift procedures. In addition to its minimally invasive design, the NuAge facelift method offers patients a shorter recovery time, less chance of post-operative complications, and maximum aesthetic benefits. In addition, the procedure can be completed under intravenous sedation in an outpatient surgical center.

The best way to determine if the NuAge face lift is right for you is to consult with your facial cosmetic surgeon. For more information on facial cosmetic surgery or oral cosmetic surgery in San Diego, call Varboncoeur & Caldemeyer Oral & Facial Surgery at (619) 463-4486.
